The computer would get super hot on the bottom. I would get errors that popped up saying there was a graphics error. Sometimes there would be lines on the screen. The screen was locking up, the system would start to reboot and then lock up or continue to reboot over and over again. If you ever update your OS it will add these files back where they belong and you run the risk of not being able to repeat the steps to remove them. You can also get an app called GFXCardStatus but once you get that machine running (in Safe Mode) there's no telling how much time you'll have and downloading and installing the app could take a minute. It will work fine but only using the integrated graphics card. This is a temporary fix that slightly cripples your machine. First copy them into another folder and then move them into the trash and empty the trash. Once you are in immediately go to Home>System>Library>Extensions and remove AMDRadeonX3000.kext, AMDRadeonX3000GLDriver.bundle, AMDRadeonX4000.kext and AMDRadeonX4000GLDriver.bundle. If you don't have the money right now do this:īoot into safe mode. You get a 90 day warranty on the repair so when you get it back put it through the ringer. Mine got a new keyboard and new top case along with the logic board. They'll fix everything that's wrong with it.

If it still doesn't work, you will probably need to reflow the GPU, in which I recommend a professional do that for you. If this method doesn't work, try applying heat for longer, but not more than 15 seconds at a time. Apply thermal paste to both the GPU and the CPU and reassemble the heatsink. Wait about 3-5 minutes for the GPU to cool down. Heat up the GPU with a small circular motion that's centralized on the GPU die. Once clean, turn on your heat gun and set it to 400F. Just be careful not to break off any motherboard components. Remove the heatsink and clean off the silver thermal paste off both the CPU and the GPU.
